Volunteer at Hanover

Help support Hanover and make a difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness by volunteering with us.

Our volunteer roles are based across seven sites in southern and south-eastern metropolitan Melbourne and there are lots of different ways that you can get involved. The time commitment varies so you can pick a volunteer role that suits you, from volunteering on a regular basis, to helping out at events and special occasions.

Volunteer opportunities

We have lots of different volunteer opportunities. From helping a child affected by homelessness with their school work once a week with our Children’s Tutor Program, providing administration support at one of our offices, or helping with our campaigns, we greatly appreciate the wealth of skills and experiences our volunteers provide.

Benefits of volunteering

There are lots of other benefits when it comes to volunteering at Hanover, including:

  • gaining new skills or developing existing ones
  • the chance to try out something new
  • doing something useful and rewarding
  • gaining a sense of achievement
  • putting something back into the community
  • developing your personal skills and confidence.

We’re always looking for people who can help and we have a range of different roles available. At Hanover we want all of our volunteers to have a rewarding experience so if you volunteer with us we’ll help you to gain important transferable skills. Depending on your role you’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills and build on your experience in community work, training, mentoring, tutoring, events, research, fundraising, campaigning, finance, IT or administration.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone can volunteer. We value diversity and encourage volunteers from all sections of the community. There are, however,  some limitations for young people under 16 years of age.
