Chief Executive Officer – Tony Keenan, B.Ed. HF.

Tony Keenan is Hanover’s Chief Executive Officer, a position he has held since 2006.  He also serves as Chairperson of the Australian Foyer Foundation, a not for profit foundation established to promote the development of youth foyers as a means to re-engage young homeless people in education and employment.

Tony began his career as a secondary teacher in Wangaratta, not far from his hometown of Benalla. He went on to be Assistant Secretary of the Staff Association of Catholic Secondary Schools and then General Secretary of the Victorian Independent Education Union.

Tony has had a long standing passion for community organisations and the important role volunteers and community members can play in mobilising around issues that affect them. He was a volunteer and then President of the Victorian AIDS Council in the late 1980s before going on to become the National President of the Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations. He was appointed by the Keating Government and then  subsequently the Howard Government to chair the development of Australia’s Third HIV/AIDS Strategy.

In 1996 he was awarded a Harkness Fellowship in public policy in the USA where he studied not for profit governance and management at the University of California, San Francisco. He was appointed Victorian Co Chair of Anti Poverty week in 2008 and currently sits on the national coordinating committee for the week. Tony is a member of the Victorian Government’s Community Sector Reform Council. He also sat on the Gillard Government’s Social Inclusion Board.

General Manager Corporate Services – Steve Timmerman

Steve Timmerman is Hanover’s General Manager of Corporate Services. Steve has oversight of Hanover’s core administrative functions including Risk Management, Finance, Information Technology and Administration. A Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), Steve brings to Hanover a wealth of private sector experience. Steve has recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Social Impact at the University of Melbourne Business School.

Passionate about Hanover’s vision of Leading Empowerment and Change, Jacqui brings extensive experience in strategic HR & change management and in developing and driving organisational and cultural transformation.

She has a Grad Diploma in Management (AGSM), and a Grad Certificate in Change Management (AGSM), and has undertaken Undergrad studies in Adult Education (ECU-WA).

Richie has 18 years experience as a practitioner and manager of frontline services for people experiencing homelessness. He has particular experience working with people with a range of complex needs, and managing homelessness programs including crisis accommodation centres, assertive outreach, alcohol and drug counseling, and education pathways programs. Since coming to Hanover he has managed a diverse suite of housing programs across the northern and southern suburban areas, and in 2013 was appointed General Manager Housing Support Services.

Sharon WaitzerGeneral Manager Education & Employment – Sharon Waitzer

Sharon is committed to empowering and unlocking clients’ potential to transform their lives through education and employment.  Sharon has had more than 15 years experience in developing and implementing numerous education, training and employment policy and programs to increase the participation of higher-need learners through a client-centred approach. Her role includes responsibility for Hanover’s Job Services Australia (JSA) contract, the development and management of our youth programs, and the development of new employment and education programs for clients.

Acting General Manager Communications and Fundraising – Fin Bird

Fin Bird has extensive experience in strategic communications and fundraising across government and not-for-profit organisations in New Zealand and Australia. Fin has worked with Victorian Government Ministers and the New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark and in a range of public affairs, communications and fundraising roles. Fin’s responsible for all of Hanover’s strategic communications, fundraising and business development.
